Welcome to 2020 and a new school year for our College community. We are looking forward to the year ahead with many exciting programs and projects underway this year.

Our 10 Year Partnership with the Colman Foundation continues and we are looking forward to working with all of our partners and stakeholders as we further develop ‘Our Place.’ The ‘Our Place’ core elements which we are working to achieve are:

  • Single entry – a welcoming space, which is the main entry to ELC, community facilities and the school, for families/community to gather

  • Early years – prenatal support, supported playgroup, high quality early education and care that exceeds the National Quality standard.

  • Teaching and learning - Demonstrate exceptional leadership in teaching and learning to deliver outstanding achievements in student outcomes. Implement a model of student engagement through before and after school activities that achieves high participation by students.

  • Secondary wrap around - Our Place staff and school staff will work with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure there is provision of a range of high quality health and wellbeing services available on-site. They will also endeavour to address any gaps or inadequacies.

  • Community engagement/adult education - The Our Place Adult Engagement coordinator will work with community members and key service providers to ensure that what is delivered operates on person-centred principles – i.e. we do ‘with” not “to” people.

In 2020, we continue our collaboration with Swan Hill Rural City Council and Regional Development Victoria as we begin the consultation, planning and design phases of our new College and Robinvale Community Library. This year will also see the demolition of the old administration building.

Our ATSI Girls Academy begins this year, with all ATSI Year 4-8 girls being given the opportunity to participate and Year 9-12 girls transitioning in by the end of the year. We would like to sincerely thank RE Ross Trust for financially supporting this 3 year pilot project and are excited by all the new opportunities that this project will provide for some of our students.

Towards the end of last year we finalised our new Leadership structure so that it aligns with our 4 year School Strategic Plan goals and targets. Our key improvement strategies and targets are focused around 3 whole school goals:

  • To improve the learning growth and achievement of every student in literacy and numeracy.

  • Foster learning communities that are supportive and productive learning environments that promote inclusion and collaboration, developing the whole child.

  • Build a culture of high expectations for every student that promotes intellectual engagement and self- awareness.

We are excited by this shift in focus as we prioritise relationships, consistency and collaboration while supporting all of our staff to build their capacity as high performing teachers and professionals.
